It's a straight shot across Interstate 40. It's about 850 miles. Be sure your car is up for the trip. Check your tire pressure, it will save gas and prevent a possible tire failure. There's parts of that road that are pretty desolate and if your luck is anything like mine, you'll break down at the exact spot where you have NO CELL SERVICE and it's nothing like it used to be cause people won't stop to help.
The Flying J Truck Stop in Albuquerque has an excellent salad bar and very good food. Leave Amarillo at 8 am and you could be there for lunch.
