Cyprus is an island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is in a strategic location near Greece, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey. It is for that reason that Ottoman troops captured Cyprus in the sixteenth century and it remains divided between the Greek dominated Republic of Cyprus and a Turkish Cypriot North Cyprus,

Cyprus is An island in the eastern Mediterranean.  Cyprus is by the Turkish Ottoman Empire rule in 1571-1878.
