No transportation like now-a-days, he used animals for transportation.

Well obviously cars, buses, trains, planes and bicycles hadn't been invented!!! In fact, it was quite a while before man invented the wheel! They hadn't discovered anything like oil/petrol. Everywhere they went they would be forced to go by foot!
