What is one place in your city that you would not recommend for a tourist to visit it? And why not?

There is a portion of downtown in my city that looks like a scene from The Walking Dead. Other than that, there are some great sights including a small rock garden and a small historic town. Good luck to you.

I'm a naive Englishman. I once had a customer in Detroit, and spent 3 or 4 days working there. It seemed OK (if a bit "tatty") during the day.

The hotel I stayed at was very nice. One evening, I asked at reception for directions to a local cinema. It was about half a mile away. He told me that I had to take a cab, because it would not be safe to walk.

It didn't seem to be a bad neighbourhood.

Don't go to Detroit

I live in FL. We like our tourist to just stay in the tourist areas. Why bring them out of there and have them slowing up the already busy traffic areas.

There are several cities in the area where I live.. Hmm.. I would say to avoid Vancouver's down town eastside area (its a very bad). And some parts of Surrey's downtown/Whalley area (mainly by the skytrain within a few blocks) as it can be bad with robberies/muggings, some homeless people and drunk people, and sometimes shootings (although, it has gotten safer in recent years since  the police station moved there, and it's being developed commercially from scratch).

ALSO, avoid  bushed in trails at parks (avoid bushed in trials period), and stay out of unpopulated areas when visiting parks.

That's about it really

San Luis Obispo, California.

Just stay away, there's nothing there, I swear! It's a terribly dull and boring place. It's a place you warn your children about. How you'll send them there to live if they misbehave. If you're driving down Highway 101 and you see a sign that says San Luis Obispo City Limits, pull over on the next exit and turn around. I swear there's nothing there!

No, there isn't a giant wall made of ABC Bubble gum. All the beautiful nature scenery, hiking trails, mountain biking trails, coastal trails, clean sandy beaches, sand dune trails for ATVs, kayaking, boating, fishing, and original bread-bowl clam chowder ARE ALL LIES! Photoshopped, into tricking filthy tourists to drop all their money here. Even paid Oprah to list it as one of her top places to live.

Stay away.

Not at all. Just my realization on why you're smug about it and the truth that you couldn't possibly truly experience a place. After all, when you first came here you were randomly complaining about how expensive things are and how you couldn't possibly be in such a place. While the supply and ever growing demand says otherwise. Pretty common trait of class envy.

Also, the more statistics you bring up the more it shows you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

It's like saying Sushi sucks based off of eating a California roll from 7-11.
