First thing you should do is find the jobs first ! The cost of living is a little high here but can't be much higher than N.Y. But the wages are higher here than elsewhere , so the money you earn will make up for the cost of living. I think Pamper's estimate of the money you'll need to start out with is about right but I sure would see about coming out here first and looking for work in your respective fields.
