What impression do people have about life in a Muslim country?
People who believe everything they see on mainstream media get the impression that Muslims are violent and that Islam is an oppressive religion. In reality, most Muslims in Muslim countries - or all around the world for that matter - are peaceful and normal people. There are some extremist Muslims, especially in Muslim countries. But they are few compared to the nearly 2 billion who are normal. And the reason why they are extreme is because they do not follow Islam properly and twist Islamic law for their own gain.
More ignorant people think that all Muslims are terrorists. More knowledgeable people are aware the Muslims are different in each culture and nation. Muslims in Albania for instance are completely different from Muslims in Iran. I just watched something on the Travel channel that shows Albanian Muslims are for some reason obsessed with President Bush and American celebrities.
Some people however watch biased news shows in America that depict foreign Muslims in a bad light, but Americanized Muslims are for the most part liked.
