Qantas, which hasn't had a fatal crash in the jet era, was named the world's safest airlines. Others in the top 10 included, in alphabetical order, Air New Zealand, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways,Emirates, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, Finnair, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines.

I don't know ! I looked at a couple of articles and all U.S. airlines are down near the bottom. Odd, to say the least !

Qantas certainly enjoyed the reputation of the world's safest airline but in the last decade they've moved their maintenance off-shore and are using cut-price Asian mechanics. Since then there have been a number of incidents involving near disasters and it's only a matter of time before the spit hits the fan.

On the other hand, United has a pretty good reputation unless you happen to be a guitar. Canadian musician, Dave Carroll, tried to get compensation when they broke his Taylor guitar but, over a period of some months, they kept refusing to replace it.

So he recorded a song about it and it went viral on YouTube.

Passengers stayed away in droves and, in consequence, United's share price tumbled. Eventually they offered to compensate him if he'd withdraw the song but he refused. Taylor gave him a new guitar and relished the publicity.

Have a listen to his song. It's a lot of fun and has to be the most effective protest song in history.  (No Taylor guitars were broken during the filming.)
