Australia is the only country which also a continent. It is the sixth largest country and the smallest continent. It was at one point of time under the colonial rule of England. Miscreants and law breakers were deported to Australia as punishment. England is at a great distance from Australia.

Previously people used to travel by sea and it often took those weeks to reach Australia. But with the progress of science and technology now it fortunately takes considerably lesser than that. In 1991 Australia was accessed by airways from England and the distance was measured at something approximately at 17,000km. The flight took a long detour through several destinations and passed through different countries to reach Australia.

Australia is a country as well as a continent in itself. England is a country located in the European continent. The distance between Australia and United Kingdom is 9533.00 miles and 15341.46 kilometres. Check out tourist sites and Google maps to know more about these places. Geocities is also a very good site for more detailed knowledge about these two countries.

This is the air distance between these two places. The nautical distance between these two places would be different and much longer. Previously when Australia was a colony of England, sea routes were the most common and feasible route of accessing travelling from England to Australia.

With the advent of science and technology the world has become a very small place and hence nowadays it is not trouble to travel from one end of the world to another provided that one has the means and the inclination to do so.
