Yes. I don't see a reason why not. Maybe you did not get a round trip ticket, maybe you did not have the money, may be the one way ticket was cheaper than the round trip ticket, maybe ... The USCIS will not care what kind of ticket you are traveling on as long as your long term intention is to stay in the US more than abroad.
