Yes, Ecuador has a National Sport. The most famous sport played here is Futbol, (Soccer). Like all other countries, Ecuador too has its proffessional teams. These teams include: Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito, Deportivo Cuenca, from Cuenca, Barcelona S.C. and C.S. Emelec, from Guayaquil, El Nacional (the Ecuadorian Armed Forces team) from Quito and Olmedo from Riobamba.
Apart from soccer, this country has also great intrest in sports like, tennis, basketball and volleyball. Bullfighting is also a sport that enjoyed here, but during festivals. Some of the other sports that are not played at proffessional level are surfing, mountainbiking, mountainclimbing, paintball and motorbiking. Ecuador obtained its first gold medal in year 1996 at the Atlanta's Olympic Games. This gold medal was won by Jefferson Pérez, for a 20km walk.
