Marco Polo was one of the first Europeans who reach China overland and was successful in documenting his book. This made  him and his expeditions very popular all around the world. It influenced many people as they knew about far east and its riches. This also inspired Christopher Columbus to take a western route. Another impact was on the development of European Cartography which ;led to European voyages of exploration after a century.
