Auschwitz is the largest orchestration site and extermination camp situated in Southern Poland. It is the modern day Oswiecim. The camps in the Auschwitz camps were a main factor in the perpetration of the Holocaust. It is a railway junction and industrial town known for producing leather, agricultural implements and chemicals.

Krakow, a city in South Poland is an ideal place from which you get to Auschwitz. There are trains which run from Krakow Plazow station via Skawina and from Glowny station through Trzebinia. The journey lasts for about 65 kms (45-50 mts). You can also take a bus from Krakow Central Bus Terminal (which is bang opposite Krakow Plazow train station). The bus service runs about 10 times per day. If you are staying at a main hotel in Krakow, you can take a taxi service that will drive you from your place to Auschwitz and then back again. The cost is an estimated $50.00 per trip. From Osweicm station, there are local buses numbered 24 to 29 which ply to the Auschwitz Museum.
