In order to understand the importance
of tourism as a transformation agent let me first of all explain you
what tourism is:

Tourism is the act of travelling to a
different location than the one you call home for either business or
pleasure, usually for a temporary duration.

Because the logistics behind moving
from one place to another, even if for a limited period of time,
involves several different factors like
accommodation, entertainment
on location, food and beverage, insurance, travel, shopping,
it is
easy to see how all of this plays an extremely important role in
today's economy where the world is connected in ways
never seen before.

Tourism will act as a very important
transformation agent, sometimes the only one available to a specific
region, because it can mean the difference between a city without any
attractions (natural or man made).

In this case, the city benefits a great deal from this type of exposure, namely employing,
directly or indirectly, sometimes thousands of people in the city.
