Pretty easy really but I got this from Wikipedia :

  1. Valet parking is a parking service offered by some restaurants, stores, and other businesses, particularly in North America. In contrast to "self-parking", where customers find a parking space on their own, customers' vehicles are parked for them by a person called a valet.

Restaurants or hotels in urban areas often offer this service, because it is hard to find a parking spot and they don't want customers to just give up.  The valet station is usually in front of the facility.  You pull up to the front, give the valet your car key and they give you a receipt and drive your car away to some garage.  When you finish your meal, you give the receipt to the attendant and someone fetches your car and brings to the front.  They usually charge for the parking, service and you give a modest tip ($1).
