In order to undergo a foundation course before your main course, you have to have an IELTS score of at least 5.5. To complete an ELICOS course before your main course, you should have an IELTS score of at least 5.0. Yet you will be able to study a preliminary English course for up to 30 weeks.
There are options available where you can take the Academic or General IELTS test in order to meet the English Language requirements for a student visa but check with your Australian education provider about which test they require.
Academic requirements are just as tough. To do an Australian undergraduate course you will need to have an Australia Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (Year 12), or the overseas equivalent. For Postgraduate courses as well as the satisfactory completion of at least one degree at undergraduate level, your institution may take research ability into consideration.
