I'd say it all depends on the person. It is not a bad job at all. Or better yet It is not the job that makes you bad, but you. You see working as a flight attendant you meet a lot of people, soo many different cultures. Whether they maybe a passenger or your own team mates/colleagues. You get to travel around the world. Depending on the Airline you work for, sometimes you must be based in another country. Away from your family. Which makes you think that your free to do whatever you want. Yes, you are allowed to party, have fun. But it is also in your hands to know your limits. If you go overboard and ruin your reputation it is not that airline or your job as a crew member to be blamed but your self.
I personally know a few crew members who are actually studying for their masters, participating in other charity activities..etc while they are dealing with their other hectic life as a crew member. So it's all you and how you live it up.

Its a fantastic job and every layover is like a paid vacation! What better way to meet people, try different cuisines, get open minded and Travel the world!
Just like in any job, you don't have to do anything you don't like. BUT the career span is short unless you work for a Govt. Airline so planning for the future helps.

I think it depends on a number of factors; Number one being working for an airline with a good safety record. I have a friend who has worked for a Canadian Airline for thirty years, and she loves it!
