The only way to know for certain how many marks are required to qualify as an airline pilot is to speak to someone who has undertaken the test recently (as the marking may have changed), or speak to someone from a flight school. An instructor will be the best person to speak to as they will be in contact with the right people.

Becoming an airplane pilot is not an easy task, but with dedication and hard work it can be done. Below is a list of instructions that you can use as a guideline to help to qualify as an airline pilot.
· The first step is to do some research and find a good flying school in your area. They will have instructors you can speak to about working on your pilot certificate. Hint: It is always wise to go for an FAA approved school.
· Apply for a medical certificate (First Class). To do this you will need to contact the Federal Aviation Administration and ask to speak to their medical department. It is better to do this straight away to see if you quality without wasting money and time.
· Graduate with a 4-year degree from college. Your degree doesn't have to be related to aviation so any degree will suffice. Possessing a degree will prove to your flight school that you can undertake and complete education programs.
· Once you have received your private pilot license (around 40 hours of flight time is acceptable, although 60 hours is average), you will need to begin working for your Instrument Rating and Commercial Certificate. Your pilot license instructor will be able to give you more information on this.
· Once you have completed your CFI rating (Certified Flight Instructor), you can begin working at the flying school you learned at. However, your career doesn't have to end there. Speak to your flying school for more options on how to work for a private airline or how to join the air force.
