Find out how thick a penny is...and multiply it by a million.
Can You Estimate How Many Pennies It Would Take To Make? Stack 1 In High. Approximately How High Would A Stack Of 1 Million Pennies Be?
1 million mm
Well I am going to let you do the problem, but I will help you with constructing the equation. First get a ruler, and some pennies. Stack them until they reach 1 in in height. Count that number of pennies.
# of pennies for one inch = ? ( I am going to use an integer of P for that measurement)
1,000,000/P = Length in inches ( I will use (I) to represent that measurement)
So in feet it would look something like: 1,000,000/P= I/12
You are dividing the I measurement by 12 to get the number of total feet. If you want to really impress the teacher, you can figure out what portion of a mile that would be. (5,280 feet to a mile)
