Essex is a county located towards East of England. Its county town is Chelmsford and the peak point of the county is Chrishall common which is situated towards the village of Langley near the Hertfordshire border, which goes up to 482 ft.

It shares its boundaries with the North Sea to the east, to the south with the northern bank, or estuary, of the river Thames and Kent, to the south-west with greater London, towards the west with Hertfordshire diagonally to the river Lee and the Stort, towards the North West with Cambridgeshire and towards the north with Suffolk.

Essex gets its name from East Seaxe or East Saxons. It is said that the kingdom of Essex was discovered by Aescwine in 527 AD, inhabiting the land to the north of River Thames.
