We love Europe in winter, as crowds are avoided. For a short trip, a few ideas would be; Fountainebleau with easy access to magical Ile de France & Paris; Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland near Jungfrau & great snowboarding; Loire valley with lots of chateau & countryside; Salzkammergut area near Salzburg; Bavaria near Fussen in lovely countryside & castles.
Spain - southern Italy - Greece
Definitely France! Actually, I have a personal connection with this country: My grandmother was from France and her name was also Marie. The only difference between us is that I don't speak French. :) Because of her, I decided to take a Battlefield Tour and to visit the famous WWII Allied D-Day beach and airborne assault landing sites of Normandy.
I don't know if you would be interested in that kind of getaway, but you can check out all Battlefield tours here: https://www.frenchtravel.com.au/battlefield-tours/
