My sister's big stupid mouth almost got us kicked out of the hotel in OKC, the day of our mother's funeral. Nearly 900 miles from home😕.

Picture it. Gatlinburg, TN, December of 2013, a young couple traveled the lonely highways in celebration of their very first Christmas together. As the clock struck 11:30PM, the young lady wisked away a deep yawn. The thermometer on his Acura read a chilly 15 degrees. The couple pulled into the hotel lobby on the Gatlinburg Strip and were half-heartily greeted by a man ruthlessly crunching down a family size bag of Doritos. He reluctantly explained the room amenities but his words were lost on the couple. All they could focus on were the salivated remains of the Doritos yet to be swallowed. Disgusted, the couple hurriedly departed for their room. It was a cozy little room with one queen size bed. The light sheet and thin blanket seemed inappropriate for the cold winter season. The young lady stepped outside to view the lake that lay right outside their door. The dashing man turned on the heat then joined his beautiful wife on the patio and lovingly wrapped his arms around her small frame. They chatted momentarily and retreated inside the cozy room to discover the broken heater blowing chilled air. Management was no help and the bed was revealed to be lumpy and uncomfortable when they laid to a frigid slumber for the night. Needless to explain, that hotel was never again graced by the presence of the young couple. That couple... Was me and Mrs. Goofyhawk.

I took a couple of my employees out of state to build a house for an old customer of mine. We got to the hotel, registered and went up to our suite only to find about 8 hotel staff members having an orgy in the beds that we were supposed to sleep in. Needless to say, we went elsewhere.

I was driving from Kansas City to Florida. About an hour south of Nashville was a Budget Inn. I always stopped there because it was clean, took the dogs, and the gentleman who owned always treated me nicely, and would put me in a room where there was plenty of light outside to walk the dogs.

The last time I stayed there the motel had changed ownership. The new guy put in a room in the very back with very poor lighting in the parking lot. After 12 hours on the road, I fed and walked the dog. Then I hopped in the shower to rinse the road grime away. As I pulled the shower curtain closed I noticed the bottom 12 inches is covered in mildew. Needless to say I immediately got out of the shower. I washed up in the sink. I checked the bed carefully and laid down for a few hours of sleep. I think I left about 5 hours later.

Yuck!!! Filth is the worst, although Hippy had one heck of a story.

At one hotel, I used one of their washcloths to clean the moldy bathroom. (I carry disinfecting wipes, and used them for the final wipe-down.). I got a $20 discount when I brought that smelly rag to the front desk.

My bfs drunk ass got us kicked out of a hotel. I was drunk too and knew not to drive home so we searched and searched for a hotel at 3 in the morning, finally finding one. When the girl asked him if he was okay, he went to speak and threw up all over the lobby floor. Then she kicked us out :/ so we stayed in our car in -27 Celsius weather all night. NOT FUN

In Canada you learn to adapt when 8 months of the year is covered in snow where I am! But we still get cold sometimes! Haha
