Many times. I've built a few log homes in VA. Very nice state, everyone is in slow motion there and it took me a while to get used to it.
I was in Virginia not to long ago with my dad, we went to the Natural Bridge and Luray Caverns, being from West Virginia, it didn't take long and was a nice weekend trip.
I have not been there, but I would love to. I think there's a place called Smoke Mountain Lake (not positive about the name) that I have researched a lot and would love to stay there for a few months in the fall for a little vacation.
It looks so beautiful.
I used too live near Charlottesville. I loved it up there and even thought about retiring there. The Shenandoah National Forest is a short drive away, so there was plenty of outdoor things to do, like hiking or trail rides. Skiing was nearby in the winter. And the beach was about 2 hours away. You got all four seasons but usually nothing extreme.
No, but "I've been to Georgia and California---anyplace I could run. I've been to Greece and isle of Nice while I've sipped champagne on a yacht....."
My grandfather on my dad's side lives up in the mountains of Front Royal and it's lovely up there, but a little too quiet for my small town self. And the bugs are everywhere in the summer!
Anyone who has gone through west Virginia from Pennsylvania has probably ended up in the little town of Berkeley Springs (formerly the town of Bath). I've always had my eye on it, not much bigger than the town I'm in now, but the highway goes right through the middle. Plus they have a maple syrup festival haha
