This is untrue. In fact, a permanent resident of Canada does indeed require a visa if they want to travel to another country. Ever since January 08, then a Canadian permanent resident needs to own a passport if they want to travel to foreign countries like the United States of American and Mexico, and then of course return to Canada in the end.

This will be required no matter whether you are flying by air or land - it is now law and is being enforced across Canada and on the borders.

Furthermore, if you are a permanent resident of Canada then you are technically not a Canadian citizen. This means that you will require a special application or visa provided to you by the Canadian government if you ever wish to leave and then go back to Canada.

If you are in this situation then you will also need to get a passport from the country of which you are actually a citizen. If you have not yet done so then you will need to do this before you even start thinking about planning your temporary travels to other countries.

For more information about this then you need to get in touch with your local authority or local office that deals with passports. There will be many leaflets available for you to take and many people to talk to about this issue. By researching on government websites too you will be able to find information about the documents you need. You should also be able to print off the forms that you need to be able to obtain the documents and the passport that you require to travel to other countries from Canada. Don't be afraid about being unable to find the information, it's easy.

Canadian residents do require visa for other countries. Some countries do not require visa from Canadian citizens. It depends upon their foreign policy. You have to check with every country policy.

You need to get a canadian travel document and then get a US visa on it to enter the US if you are a refugee or a valid passport alongside your PR card to get a US visa to qualify entry into the US

A permanent resident of Canada does require a visa to visit other countries. As of Jan. 2008 you will require a passport if you wish to enter the U.S. And Mexico and return into Canada whether by land or by air. Also, as a permanent resident of Canada you are not a Canadian citizen and you require a special application/visa from the Canadian government if you wish to leave and return to Canada. You should also get a passport from the country of which you are a citizen if you have not yet done so.    Let me change this (as Ffd... So nicely pointed out).  A permanent resident of canada needs a permanent resident card to re-enter Canada.  A permanent resident needs to check with other countries if planning to visit in order to see if they require a visa.
