BOTH. Germans began migrating into the United States around the 1700s. How funny that no one told them they had to carry legal papers or were required to speak English or told we don't want to hear that German mess. They also help/assisted in colonizing certain areas. In Pennsylvania alone there were 45,000 Germans. They took over a lot of land in the country belonging to our native american indians and killed many of them. Many Nazis also managed to escape into the U.S.
