Central Park is, rather appropriately, situated at the heart of Manhattan, New York. The park opened in 1857 on city-owned land and spans a remarkable 843 acres (3.41 km2). This is relevant to the question as it helps answer that Central Park doesn't start or end officially on one street or another; it borders many streets.

The main streets bordering Central Park are:
  • West 59th Street
  • Central Park West
  • 5th Avenue
  • West 110th Street
  • Cathedral Parkway
Throughout Central Park there are additional 'streets' including:
  • West Drive
  • East Drive
  • Central Park Driveway
  • 97th Street Transverse Road
  • 86th Street Transverse Road
  • West 85th Street
  • 79th Street Transverse Road
  • Terrace Drive
  • The Mall
  • West 67th Street
  • 66th Street Transverse Road
  • 65th Street Transverse Road
  • Center Drive
The park has gained additional walkways and streets coming through it and around it over the years as New York has grown. In 1963 it was deemed a National Historic Landmark and the park sees between 25 and 35 million visitors each year. Central Park was, and still is, an almost entirely landscaped development which is testament to the natural and fitting look of the park; a remarkable piece of design and architecture. It was equally as remarkable that the development work over the last 150 years or more has kept it looking as natural and not man-made as possible.
