The officially-designated nudist beach in Brighton is located in the south of the easterly part of Kemptown. It is one of the few nudist beaches to be located in an urban area.

Kemptown is a small town and there is a small community of slightly bohemian people. These hippies reside in an area along the King's Cliff to Black Rock. Black Rock is a town located in the east of Brighton, in the county of East Sussex in the United Kingdom. Inhabited mostly by hippies, actors, artists and homosexuals, Kemptown has a sizeable population of LGBT (lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transsexuals). Kemptown has a wide network of streets with an attractive array of esoteric shops which usually sell items that cater to the needs of its large gay population. It also has a number of small hotels and good pubs. Kemptown is a part of the King's Cliff area, which also comprises the Queen's Park and East Brighton, which is made up of the Craven Hill, Bristol and Whitehawk estates.
