The distance between Rome and the region of Tuscany is approximately 305km (190 miles), when taking a main road route between the two. However the distance between the two, as the crow flies, is 170 miles, or 274 kilometres. I found this from the following source:   maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&
Information of this sort can easily be found by going to Google maps and typing "from A to B" where A and B are the locations you wish to find the distance between. Rome, the capital of Italy has coordinates of 41 degrees 541 minutes North, 12 degrees 29 minutes East. Tuscany has coordinate of 43 degrees 25 minutes North, 11 degrees 0 minutes East. This information was found from www.mapsofworld.com/lat_long/italy-lat-long.html
The regional capital of Tuscany is Florence, which is 173 miles from Rome by the above source. However, Tuscany is 22,990 square kilometres, or 8,880 sq miles in size so distances between Rome and Tuscany vary depending on where in Tuscany you want to go. It should be noted that the distance between Rome and Tuscany depends on which kind of distance one considers. For example, the route given by Google is a driving route, and hence the distance is a little longer than the distance "as the crow flies" or the great circle passing between Rome and Tuscany, that is, the circle centred at the Earth's centre (though this is further complicated by the fact that the Earth is not a perfect sphere). Due to the proximity of Tuscany and Rome, these two distances are very similar.  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuscany provides more information on Tuscany.
