As the crow flies the distance between Pisa and Florence in Italy is approximately 43 miles or 69 kilometres. As it is not possible to travel as the crow flies, the driving distance between the two cities is instead 63 miles or 102 kilometres. This is a journey that is suggested to take approximately one hour and 20 minutes, traffic and breaks depending. It is also possible to do the journey by train. Pisa Airport and Firenze SMN railway station (Florence) are connected by six trains a day that only take an hour in travelling time. Typically a single ticket between the two cities will cost five Euros 90.

Pisa is a city located in Tuscany that is rich with architecture and culture. Most famous for its 'Leaning Tower', the city attracts thousands and thousands of tourists a year. While many only stop to have their photo taken by the bell tower, there are dozens of other historic churches and intricate bridges to discover. There are a large variety of museums dotted across Pisa, all with their own unique exhibits. The city is also home to the University of Pisa, one of the best Superior Graduate Schools in Italy.

As the capital of Tuscany, Florence is a much larger city than Pisa. With over 1.5 million inhabitants in its metropolitan area, its historic centre also plays host to millions of tourists visiting every year. The centre of Florence has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and due to its heritage, artistic background and culture, it is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is considered to be the birthplace of the Renaissance and the city has had a major impact on the world in terms of music, science, fashion, art and philosophy, just to name a few.

The distance between Florence and Pisa is about 100 Km / 63 miles.

The two cities are really well connected. You can travel from one city to the others with: Car, bus and train.

By train, the time and the price depends on your choice. If you take the fastest train it takes 49 minutes. If you take the slowest train it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

By car it normally takes around 1 hour and a half, without any stop. You can decide to take two different roads. One is free while the highway cost is €5.

I hope you will find this information useful.

Driving: 102 km / 63 English miles / just over an hour on the road.

Driving route and directions.

By train: Takes about an hour on the faster trains, the distance is nearly 100 km..

Straight-line distance: 43 miles / 69 km.

Did you know that you can use GoogleEarth to see the leaning tower of Pisa?  Use the 3-D option to get a good view.  Nifty!

Florence is much better place to visit, by the way.  It's a stunning town.  Pisa is only  fun in a kind of "let's play silly tourists for a day" way, and then only for a few hours.

Florence is about 107km far from Pisa. Pisa is very interesting and historic. Scavenger just said that because he is a lazy bum. He doesn't go to the interesting places cuz he stays at the hotel watching TV.

If we take the Euro train from Rome to Tuscany, how many miles is it from the train station to the leaning Tower of Pisa? Would it be worth our time to stay over in Pisa before heading on to Milan? What would be the least and safest transportation from the train station to the Tower of Pisa?
