Due to central London congestion charges, the distance between the two cities and potential heavy traffic on the M1 and M25 motorways, the easiest way to travel is usually not by car. In the last couple of years, a new train service called "Hull Trains" has been launched by train company "First". The service takes approximately two and a half hours to travel from Hull Paragon Station to London Kings Cross. There are six services to and from London run by Hull Trains on every weekday, five on a Saturday and four on Sunday's. The service has grown in popularity and is used by businesspeople, tourists and shoppers alike. Most of the trains stop at Brough, Howden, Selby, Doncaster Retford, and Grantham, before travelling a high speed down to London King's Cross. Fares can be quite expensive, as are most train fares these days. However, discounts are obtainable if tickets are booked in advance.

Hull Trains is the only regular direct train service to London from Hull. An alternative option is to travel to Doncaster to catch a high-speed service down to London, although this obviously requires a change and may take longer.
