The Leaning Tower of Pisa is important because it is, unlike all the other bell towers in Italy and the world, leaning at 3,99 degrees! That makes it quite unique.
When it was first built, it wasn't meant to be leaning so it is actually a product of an engineering mistake. It is also important because in spite of it slowly but surely sinking even more, that has been stopped after 11 years of reconstructions.
