If your going in the summer, you can take amtrak to Wilmington then take
the Dart First 305 bus from the train station to the Park & Ride near Rehoboth Beach.
From there, there is a bus that will take you right through Ocean City. Check the times
for the transfers because the 305 has limited service. It's going to be a long trip and you may want to stay in the Rehoboth area for a night. The other way (not recommended)is to take Greyhound from Penn Station. It will take you somewhere outside of Rehoboth, (I think) where you will have to switch buses. If you take Greyhound in the evening, plan on a long draining trip (an over-nighter) because there will be a 2-3 hour layover in Delaware to switch buses. Also, hope that the other bus is at the transfer point is there(we were lucky that the driver let us sleep in the bus). The Greyhound alternative is not recommended. If you leave NYC say around evening -night, expect to arrive in Ocean CIty at about 8:00am the next day like you just washed up on beach.
