The distance between Florence and Verona is 117 miles (188 kilometres).

You can travel between the two cities on the Eurostar,  the journey lasts approximately95 minutes. Alternatively you can drive, which will take you around four hours.

The first 100 kilometres travelling north from Florence is very hilly and there are many curves, tunnels and bridges, making the road quite hazardous. The Autostrada you will travel on is one of the most accident-prone highways in Italy.

Florence is the capital city of the Tuscany region of Italy. It is the most populated city in Tuscany, with a population of nearly 368,000. The city is known for its importance in the Renaissance, and is famous for its art and architecture. It is known as the Jewel of the Renaissance and is regarded as one of the beautiful cities in the world, attracting millions of tourists every year.

The centre of Florence contains palaces, gardens, parks, museums and art galleries and was nominated in 2007 as the most desirable tourist destination in the world. Florence was also the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Donatello, Guccio Gucci and Leonardo Bruni.

Verona is a city in northern Italy and has a population of 265,000. It, similarly to Florence, is one the main tourist attractions in Italy. It too can boast an artistic heritage and is home to the Arena, the ancient amphitheatre that was built by the Romans. The city is the birthplace of composers Bellasio and Donatoni, amongst others. Shakespeare's famous play Romeo & Juliet was set in Verona. Both cities have been awarded world heritage site status by UNESCO because of their structures and architecture.
