I wouldn't recommend travelling to Hawaii from another US state if you're in the country illegally.
If the customs officers are doing their job conscientiously, then they may pick up on your immigration status.
Illegal aliens travelling to Hawaii on a Mexican passport
Basically, there is no way of telling whether you'll get through passport control or not - until you try it out. However, in these days of heightened air-travel security, I wouldn't suggest you take the risk.
For flights between states (and yes, Hawaii is a US state), intercontinental flight security is usually managed by the TSA (the Transport Security Administration).
Part of their job is to make sure you have a valid form of ID (a state ID card or a drivers license is usually sufficient). If you plan to travel on a Mexican passport, they may be alerted to the fact that you don't have a valid visa stamp (or that your stamp is expired).
It all depends on how conscientiously they do their job!
Can I travel to Hawaii with an illegal Mexican passport?
I've been through TSA controls where they simply glance at your ID, but then there are other officers who study your details carefully.
The thing to bear in mind is that security agencies often use routine checks to filter out criminals.
If you've ever been pulled over by a traffic cop, the first thing they'll do is to run your details through their database, regardless of how minor the infringement you've been pulled over for is.
It's the same with airport security. At the slightest hint that something is wrong, an officer will investigate (mainly because they don't have anything better to do).
