You are not a US citizen yet. You have to get visa for France and Switzerland. Once you have US passport in your hand you can travel to Europe without a Visa.

Have you become a citizen as yet ...because a permanent resident may not mean citizen right ? If you are a citizen then you wont need a VISA to mostly countries around the world
